At the February 7, 2023 City Council meeting our Morristown Police Department was presented with the State Accreditation Award. This award comes after a thorough review of our police department by the Tennessee Chiefs of Police Association Accreditation Committee. Every three years, police departments are reviewed based on their compliance with 164 standards. Lt. Gary Kent of the committee was here to present the award and praised our department for their exemplary performance and competence. A special thank you to our police personnel who work diligentely to serve our department and our community.

This is the 5th time that the City has received the State Accreditation Award. Prior to that, before there was State accreditation, we were a part of the National Accreditation program and have been accredited since 1996.
