Morristown Police Department Increases Impaired-driving Enforcement

booze it or lose itThe Morristown Police Department (MPD) is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) for its “Booze It and Lose It” campaign from August 16th through September 2nd, surrounding the Labor Day holiday. This initiative coincides with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” mobilization to increase impaired-driving enforcement nationwide.

The Morristown Police Department will focus on DUI patrols.  Officers will be dedicated to Saturation Patrol at any time during the campaign.  Saturation Patrol is funded by a THSO grant.  Officers working this patrol are primarily focused on driving under the influence, during peak enforcement times.

As always, the MPD strives to keep motorists safe through traffic enforcement.  Driving under the influence could affect multiple citizens’ in many different ways.  If one is convicted for the first time of DUI the consequences in the state of Tennessee may include costly fines, court costs, legal fees, jail time, mandatory drug and alcohol treatment, and/or the installation of an ignition interlock device on his/her vehicle.
