MPD Seeks Public's Help in Hit & Run

The Morristown Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in a hit and run crash that injured a bicyclist on Sunday night, July 29th, at 11:43 pm.

Baily Lovin, 19 of Morristown, was riding her bike south on N. Liberty Hill Rd. Between Sherwood Dr. and Newcut Dr.  A cherry red Mazda was traveling north on N. Liberty Hill Rd., swerved and struck Miss Lovin on her bike.

Miss. Lovin was injured and was taken to Johnson City Medical Center due to her non-life-threatening injuries.   The driver of the vehicle that struck her left the scene.

A witness to the collision described the vehicle as a cherry red hatch back type of vehicle.   The vehicle was last observed by the witness traveling on Fairview Rd off of Buffalo Trail in the north Morristown area.

Debris at the scene indicated the hit and run vehicle was a Mazda, but the make and year is unknown. The damage to the Mazda will be on the front, possible left side, and according to Cpl. David Gulley, it appears to be debris from the grill or fog light area of the vehicle.

Cpl. David Gulley is reaching out to ask if anyone with information identifying the vehicle and driver to please contact him at 423-307-3891 or dgulley@mymorrisotwn.com or the Morristown Police Department at 423-585-4630.  The community’s assistance is greatly appreciated.
