ASPHALT & DRIVEWAY SEALING SCAM

The Morristown Police Department is warning citizens of a recent home-improvement scam in our area.

Two white males driving a white Ford pick-up truck with a mounted tank are representing themselves as an asphalt sealing service. The suspects stop unsolicited at a residence and offer to seal the driveway. Once they receive payment, they leave the residence claiming they need additional equipment to complete the job and do not return.

The suspects are both in their late 20’s to early 30’s. One of the suspects has multiple tattoos and short, dark hair.

To avoid falling victim to this scam, residents are urged to check references of contractors before signing any contracts or providing payment. If you suspect you are being scammed, call Hamblen County Dispatch at 423-585-2701 to speak with a police officer.
