The Morristown Police Department’s Crisis Negotiations Team was established in early 1995. The current Team includes: Deputy Chief Michelle Jones, Captain Chris Hall, Lieutenant Billy Gulley, Sergeant Craig Jarnigan, Detective Corporal Mike Bacon, Corporal Travis Stansell, Detective Todd Davidson, Detective Jackie Hickey, Officer Dustin Reed, Officer Adam Winstead, and Reserve Officer Nathan Antrican. The purpose of the Crisis Negotiations Team is to supply highly trained, professional negotiators during a critical incident, such as a barricaded suspect or during a hostage situation.
The Crisis Negotiations Team is made up of 12 highly-trained men and women who receive advanced instruction in mental health issues, dealing with people in crisis, and inter-team response with the Morristown Police Department’s Special Response Team.
The Crisis Negotiations Team is recognized as a regional response team by the Council on Homeland Security. This team has been successful in resolving incidents involving barricaded subjects and other critical events.
The Crisis Negotiations Team is coordinated by Deputy Chief Michelle Jones and remains on-call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
